Wild boar were spotted wandering near
a Rome metro stop Tuesday afternoon in the latest case of the
increasingly brazen incursions that have spurred plans for a
cull of the animals amid an outbreak of swine fever in the
Italian capital and northwest Italy.
Two adult boar and a number of piglets were caught on video
rummaging around in greenery near the Cipro stop in the upscale
Prati district of Rome.
In all, around 10 animals were involved in this latest case,
sources said.
Board have grown fearless in their 'invasion' of urban areas
across Italy where they openly forage for food among city
rubbish.
Italy is planning a cull of hundreds of the animals after the
outbreaks of swine fever, first in Piedmont and Liguria and
later in Rome.
