Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni told a
G20 working session on health on Tuesday that the world must be
ready for future crises like the COVID-19 pandemic so that
people are never again forced to sacrifice their liberties
because of a virus.
"The pandemic has shown the great fragility of our societies
when faced with unexpected health crises," she said.
"It's a dangerous situation that we have a duty to address
structurally, without ever giving in to the temptation to
sacrifice our citizens' freedom in the name of protecting their
health.
"Freedom and health go together. If you do not have health,
freedom is useless.
"But, on the other hand, what is health without freedom?"
