Italy and Turkey must act together
against illegal immigration and terrorism, Italian Premier
Giorgia Meloni told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on
the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali Tuesday.
Meloni and Erdogan had a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of
the G20 meeting in Indonesia.
During the meeting, reports a note from the premier's office at
Palazzo Chigi, the two leaders emphasized the need to work
together to combat irregular migration and promote the
resolution of the Libyan crisis.
Meloni and Erdogan also agreed on the opportunity to seize
together the vast potential of the Mediterranean region.
During the meeting with Erdogan, Meloni personally expressed her
closeness, and that of the government, to the Turkish people for
the "cowardly terrorist attack", in Istanbul attributed to a
female Kurdish militant , in which six innocent civilians died
and dozens were injured on a busy shopping street, the premier's
office said.
The two leaders agreed on the need to pursue with determination
the common fight against terrorism, Palazzo Chigi said in the
note.
