Collaborating on migrants is much
better than arguing about them, Premier Giorgia Meloni told
European Council President Charles Michel on the sidelines of
the G20 summit in Bali Wednesday, she told a press conference
later.
Italy and France are recovering from a diplomatic spat over a
French NGO run migrant ship forced to land in Toulon after being
refused access to Italian waters, in a first Med migrant landing
for France.
"We also had the opportunity to have a chat with the President
of the European Council Charles Michel on immigration. What has
happened in recent days shows once again that the solutions
identified so far are probably not the best and are not
sufficient," said Meloni.
"So we thought about how to organize meetings where we can put
the various solutions on the table to try to collaborate on a
matter on which it is much better to collaborate than to argue".
