The Italian economy grew by 3.9% in
2022, according to provisional calendar- and seasonally-adjusted
data released by ISTAT on Tuesday.
That is higher than the 3.7% growth the government had forecast
in its NADEF economic blueprint.
The national statistics agency added, however, that Italy's GDP
shrank by 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2022 with respect to the
previous three months.
This ended a run of seven consecutive periods of
quarter-on-quarter growth.
The economy had grown by 0.5% in the third quarter.
ISTAT added that Italy's GDP was up by 1.7% in the fourth
quarter with respect to the same period in 2021.
