US designer Michael Kors threw a
cocktail party for Monica Bellucci in New York Monday night to
mark the only performance there of her one-woman show based on
Maria Callas's memoirs.
In the show, which debuted in Spoleto two years ago in November
and was put on at the Beacon Theater last night, Bellucci is
accompanied by the Wordless Music Orchestra as she rusn through
the late opera diva's recollections of her modest early years in
New York, war years in Athens, her coronation as opera's leading
light, and the scandals and personal travails that ensued.
Bellucci's performance of her Maria Callas: Letters and Memoirs,
directed by Tom Volf, was hailed by Kors at the party in the
Carlyle Hotel.
Umbria-born Bellucci, 58, is a former model and one of Italy and
France's best known actresses.
