Italy's 20 regions have teamed up in
Europe for a united push against Ireland's new proposed wine
health warning labels flagging the risk to the liver and links
to several types of cancers.
The delegation to the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) -
represented, among others, by governors Marco Marsilio
(Abruzzo), Eugenio Giani (Tuscany), Alberto Cirio (Piedmont) and
Luca Zaia (Veneto) - formally called for "a debate" on the issue
"at the next plenary session" scheduled for 24-25 May in
Brussels.
"We are ready to pursue, in every forum, new initiatives to
change this approach at the European level," said the Italian
regional and local representatives.
