A 28-year-old Italian woman has died
after weight-loss surgery, La Repubbica daily reported Monday,
and judicial sources confirmed.
The woman had bariatric surgery at the Humanitas Clinic at
Rozzano near Milan on March 8, was discharged the same day, and
died there after being re-admitted in critical condition on
March 19, they said.
The clinic said she had been in good condition when she was
discharged on March 8. She was admitted to hospital 11 days
later after complaining of severe stomach pains.
"Treated in critical condition, subjected to intensive care and
then admitted to an ICU, we were unable to resolve her
complicated clinical situation," the clinic said.
