Some 35 migrant boats have been
rescued since Sunday night and some 1,200 migrants have been
saved, the Italian coast guard said Monday.
Rescue activities coordinated by the Coast Guard's national
maritime search and rescue centre continue in the waters of the
central Mediterranean, it said.
"During the night just gone and up to now, from the Tunisian
stream alone, as many as 35 boats have been rescued, leading to
the rescue of around 1,200 people, all of whom disembarked in
Lampedusa," the Coast Guard reports.
