Joao Almeida (UAE Team Emirates) won
the 16th stage of the Giro d'Italia, the 203-kilometre Sabbio
Chiese-Monte Bondone. The Portuguese rider beat Geraint Thomas
(Ineos Grenadiers) in a two-man sprint, who returned to wear the
pink jersey, snatching it from Bruno Armirail, who was delayed
on the last climb. Third at the finish line, but 25 seconds
behind Almeida, was Slovenian Primoz Roglic.
Mt Bondone was one of the most challening climbs on this year's
Giro.
