One in four Italians would be willing
to eat synthetic meat according to the findings of the 2023
annual report on Italy presented by Eurispes on Wednesday.
A similar percentage - 23.3% - would consider buying products
containing processed insects, such as protein powders, the study
added.
In 2023 6.6% of respondents were either vegetarian or vegan.
The consumption of lactose-free and gluten-free products rose
respectively to 30% and 21.1% from 26% and 19.3% in 2019, with
many consumers not having an intolerance or allergy.
23.3% of respondents said they bought sugar-free products and
68.5% said they took food and vitamin supplements.
