A 35-year-old foreign woman was
arrested Monday for cutting off her 43-year-old ex-husband's
penis after he tried to rape her at Marghera near Venice on
Saturday night, police said.
She has been charged with attempted murder, judicial sources
said.
The pair, who have been separated for some time, agreed to meet
to work out how to arrange their daughter's care but their
meeting soon degenerated and the man tried to force his ex into
sex, according to local media.
Unable to escape, she struggled free, grabbed a kitchen knife
and cut off part of his penis.
Hospital sources have said they should be able to reattach it.
The case recalls the John and Lorena Bobbitt case of 1993.
