An Italian army general who was
relieved of his command after making anti-gay comments in a
self-published book said Friday he would not respond publicly to
the measure taken against him, but only in the appropriate fora.
"When I wrote this book I knew it would give rise to discussion
but I certainly did not expect this fuss. I will not respond to
decisions that come from a chain of command. I will do so in the
appropriate fora", said General Roberto Vannacci commenting to
Diario del Giorno on Rete 4 on his removal as head of the
Military Geographical Institute after the controversy that arose
around his book.
As well as gays, who were described as "not normal", Vannucci
also took aim at feminists and environmental activists in his
book.
