A 56-year-old woman murdered by her
54-year-old ex husband near Sorrento on Thursday could have been
saved if authorities had responded to her many calls for help
with measures such as an electronic ankle bracelet, her lawyer
told ANSA Saturday.
"The warning signs were all there, that she was in danger was
now clear and despite this nothing was done to prevent that man
from killing her", commented Giovanni De Gennaro, lawyer of the
family of Anna Scala, the woman stabbed to death last August 17
by Salvatore Ferraiuolo in Piano di Sorrento, in the province of
Naples.
"A precautionary measure, even just a bracelet, would have
avoided this tragedy," the lawyer told ANSA.
Some 75 femicides have been committed in Italy this year, the
vast majority by exes or current partners.
Scala reported Ferraiuolo twice for domestic violence and
threats.
