Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said
Sunday he would have acted the same as he did in ordering
disciplinary action against an anti-gay general who has been
sacked even if the officer had voiced views opposite to those he
did in a self-published book that has caused a row in Italy.
"If Gen. #Vannacci had written a book arguing the opposite
thesis to those he argues in these, I would have behaved in
exactly the same way, as a minister," Crosetto, a bigwig in
Premier Giorgia Meloni's rightwing Brothers of Italy (FdI)
party, said on X.
"Those who attack me, on one side or the other, would have
behaved in the opposite way. Yes, we are different, and very
different."
