German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser
said Thursday that Berlin accepts the compromise on the EU Pact
on Migration and Asylum proposed by the Spanish presidency of
the EU.
"We have to reach an agreement," Faeser told a public session of
the Home Affairs Council on migration.
"A qualified majority exists. We have to verify that the
countries apply the Pact.
"It's important that asylum seekers' rights are respected.
"We are in favour of an extension of the exceptions in favour of
families and minors.
"As we await the (results of the) negotiation, we accept the
compromise the Spanish presidency".
