A baby was born on a flight from Dubai to Milan on Saturday evening, the Prealpina daily reported Monday.
The little boy was born by a doctor luckily on the flight and then taken into care by an emergency crew from Filippo Del Ponte Hospital in Varese as soon as the plane landed at Malpensa Airport, it said.
The ambulance brought a special mobile cradle to the runway.
Mother and son are reported to be doing well.
The 30-something Sri Lankan parents have relations in northern Italy.
"We thank the doctor on the plane and the hospital staff for saving our baby boy," they were quoted as saying.
