Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani said Tuesday that Israel's assertion that it was
not behind the blast at the Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza City last
week was true.
The explosion was blamed on Israel by Hamas and led to angry
protests in many parts of the Islamic world.
"It seems to me that common sense has prevailed in Israel up to
now," Tajani told SkyTg24.
"The reaction to the cowardly attack they suffered has been
proportionate.
"So far they have only hit Hamas facilities.
"Even the missile that hit a hospital in Gaza, which was
initially attributed to Israel, was not an Israeli missile.
"It fell on the hospital car park and caused around 50 deaths,
not the 500 reported.
"We must prevent propaganda from playing a negative role,
inflaming the Arab masses".
