Milan prosecutors on Friday asked for
a fast-track trial for Alessandro Impagnatiello, a 30-year-old
Milan man accused of murdering his seven-month pregnant
girlfriend Giulia Tramontano near Milan on May 27 last in a case
that shocked Italy.
The request will be assessed by preliminary investigations judge
(GIP) Angela Minerva.
Tramontano suffered 37 stab wounds including two fatal ones to
the neck.
Impagnatiello has confessed to the murder.
He killed Tramontano after she found out he was having an
affair.
Her private funeral took place on June 11 at Sant'Antimo, a town
in the province of Naples where she was born and where her
parents live.
White balloons were let off as part of the farewell to the young
victim.
