Expo 2025 Osaka on Wednesday approved
the general design for the Italian Pavilion.
The approval is an important milestone, achieved so far by just
over a dozen countries, and coincided with Deputy Premier and
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani's visit to Tokyo to attend the
G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
"Our participation in Expo 2025, with this splendid Pavilion,
can truly represent an extraordinary opportunity for the growth
of Italy's image and for a better knowledge in Asia of our
high-technology and innovation capability" said Tajani.
The approval arrived just a few hours after the presentation in
Osaka, in the presence of Governor Yoshimura, Mayor Yokoyama,
and Expo Secretary General Ishige, of the concept for the
Italian Pavilion, based on Italian know-how, and designed by
architect Mario Cucinella.
Just a week earlier, the official request for the 'Temporary
Building Permit', was issued to local authorities. It is an
essential document to begin construction work, which is
currently scheduled for mid-December.
"This achievement for Italy is the result of a strong
partnership with local construction companies, and raises the
already high expectations for the Italian Pavilion," said
Commissioner General Mario Vattani.
Japanese press and TV are currently covering the Italian
pavilion and its contents.
