Deouty Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani said Sunday he had decided to set up ministry
scholarships for foreign students in memory of Giulia
Cecchettin, a 22-year-old information engineering student
allegedly killed by her 22-year-old fellow student and ex
boyfriend Filippo Turetta in northern Italy last week, and who
was just about to graduate days before her suspected murder.
"I have decided to dedicate to Giulia a series of scholarships
to foreign students who come to study in Italy and dream of what
Giulia dreamed of," Tajani said.
Earlier University Minister Anna Maria Bernini said Cecchettin
would be awarded posthumously the degree she had in fact
completed, with only her 'defence' of her thesis remaining.
