Italy coach Luciano Spalletti on
Monday added his voice to the many calls against femicide
following the alleged murder by her ex boyfriend of 22-year-old
Padua university student Giulia Cecchettin.
"We are fed up with these sh**ty cowards, disguised as prince
charmings, and we must help women distance themselves from
anyone who claims to own their freedom," he said of 22-year-old
fellow student Filippo Turetta, who is suspected of abducting
and murdering Cecchettin last week.
Spalletti made the call during an interview on Monday night's
crunch Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine in Leverkusen, where
Italy need at least a draw to progress.
