A German prosecutor said Tuesday that
Filippo Turetta, the 22-year-old Padua university biomedical
engineering student suspected of murdering his 22-year-old ex
girlfriend and course mate Giulia Cecchettin last week, and
arrested near Leipzig Sunday, would be handed over to Italy in a
few days' time.
Although the Italian request for Turetta's handing over has not
yet arrived in Germany, the competent public prosecutor's
office, in Naumburg near Halle, expects that he will be handed
over to Italy "in a few days".
