Two new Doric temples have been
discovered at the iconic ancient Greek site of Paestum south of
Naples, the culture ministry said Saturday.
In the western area of the ancient city of Poseidonia-Paestum,
close to the city walls and a few hundred metres from the sea,
"a stratigraphic excavation campaign is underway that has
brought to light two Greek temples in the Doric style." the
ministry said.
Paestum draws thousands of visitors a year to its three temples
made by the Magna Graecia (Greater Greece) colonists from 550
to 450 BC, that are in an excellent state of preservation.
