Farmers protesting a range of issues
will drive their tractors around Rome in a major demonstration
in the Italian capital next week, one of the leaders of the
protest said after meeting police chiefs Monday.
"From Thursday the mobilisation will begin. Our vehicles will
converge on various collection points around the capital and
next week there will be a big demonstration in Rome", said
Danilo Calvani, one of the leaders of the protest and head of
the 'Cra Agricoltori traditi' movement, at the end of a meeting
at the Questura in Rome.
"We still have to establish the details," he added, "but we will
probably also hold a procession with tractors."
