One of Italy's main farmers' protest
groups will drive some of its tractors to Sanremo Wednesday
night and will send a delegation to the song festival, accepting
artistic director Amadeus's invitation to appear there, probably
appearing on stage Thursday night, the group said Wednesday.
"We accept the proposal of the artistic director of the Sanremo
Festival Amadeus who has proposed to welcome a delegation of
farmers on the Ariston stage" said a note from the national
coordination of Riscatto Agricolo (Agricultural Redemption).
"A delegation of about 15 tractors will leave from the Melegnano
garrison (near Milan) this evening at around 8pm and will reach
Sanremo during the night".
Amadeus has said he is uniquely equipped to give the farmers a
platform for their protests having gone to farm school, driven a
tractor, and worked in the fields in his youth.
