An Italian family that was kidnapped
in Mali in May 2022 and who were released early Tuesday arrived
back in Rome on a government flight to Ciampino Airport at
around half past three in the afternoon.
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani is to welcome home Rocco
Langone, his wife Maria Donata Caivano and their son Giovanni
Langone, the foreign ministry said.
They were kidnapped on 19 May 2022 in their home on the
outskirts of the city of Koutiala, southeast of Mali's capital
Bamako, where they had been living for several years.
The office of Premier Giorgia Meloni said earlier they were in
good health despite their long spell in captivity.
