A Naples university debate was
cancelled after a student protest on Friday against Italian
universities' relations with Israel among other things.
The debate on the 'Role of culture in the context of a contested
Mediterranean' at the Federico II University in Naples with the
editor-in-chief of Repubblica newspaper Maurizio Molinari and
the rector Matteo Lorito was cancelled following the protest, in
which students managed to break through a police line after some
shoving and enter the faculty.
The event was cancelled due to the tension in the Faculty of
Engineering, School of Engineering and Basic Sciences, in the
Fuorigrotta district, where the protest took place.
