von der Leyen can count on Italy in the Mediterranean, Pemier
Giorgia Meloni said as she visited Cairo with the EC chief to
seal a major deal to stem migration Sunday.
She said the initiatives to bring closer the two shores of the
Med, boosting cooperation, were part of the strategy "which
Italy has adopted for several months" and along this path, also
taken by the EU, "Ursula von der Leyen knows Italy's position
well and its support and she can always count on us."
Meloni was addressing an EU-Egypt summit in Cairo.
