Italy's Antitrust Authority said
Tuesday that it has sent a report to parliament, the health and
economy ministries, the nation's regions and the AGENAS health
agency to sound the alarm about the hearing-aid market here.
The competition authority said there are critical issues
concerning hearing-aid offers to the public and to the National
Health Service.
It said a fact-finding investigation it launched in September
2023 that found "'a lack of transparency in the commercial
conditions offered to the public".
It said the average price for a devise in Italy of between 1,500
and 2,100 euros was higher than in other comparable countries,
adding that the support services provided to the public support
were inferior.
Italian hearing-aid company Amplifon's share price dropped 5.2%
on the stock exchange to €30.8 after the report was released.
