Italy's Audit Court on Monday sounded
the alarm about funding for the national health service as it
reported to the Lower House and Senate budget committees on the
government's DEF economic blueprint.
"The measures taken so far do not seem capable of structurally
responding to the difficulties that are now widespread at all
public (health) structures," it said.
"The needs of the health sector, like other areas of the welfare
system, will have to be carefully reconsidered to avoid
compliance with spending trajectories translating into a
progressive decline in the quality of public care".
