Italy's regional governments are
ready to present a legal challenge to a decree passed by Premier
Giorgia Meloni's government with measures seeking to cut
national health system waiting lists if it is approved in its
current form, sources said on Saturday.
The regional governments are in charge of organizing public
health care in Italy and they are concerned article 2 of the
decree infringes on their powers, the sources said.
This article enables central government to run checks regarding
the waiting lists and then tell the regions to adopt solutions
if problems are found, something which could also led to legal
actions, the sources said.
