Former Italy forward Ciro Immobile
was given a star reception by Besiktas fans after landing in
Istanbul on Friday to join the Turkish side following a glorious
eight-year stint at Lazio.
"I'm excited. I'm happy to be here," said the 34-year-old, who
was greeted with flares and chants of 'Ciro, Ciro' by hundreds
of fans.
"I'm ready for the start of this season".
Immobile is Lazio's all-time top scorer with 207 goals in all
competitions.
But he was not considered as central to Lazio's future as he
once was after a disappointing campaign last season and the club
let him go for a reported fee of around three million euros.
Some Lazio fans have called for the Rome club to retire
Immobile's number 17 shirt as a tribute to him.
