Italy's Elisa Longo Borghini won the
2024 Women's Giro d'Italia on Sunday, beating Belgium's Lotte
Kopecky into second place by 20 seconds.
The 32-year-old Lidl-Trek team rider, who had worn the pink
leader's jersey since the first day, becomes the fifth Italian
to win the race after Maria Canins (1988), Roberta Bonanomi
(1989), Michela Fanini (1994) and Fabiana Luperini (1995-1998,
2008).
Sunday's eighth and final stage between Pescara and L'Aquila was
won by South Africa's Kim Le Court Pienaar in a sprint finish.
