Italians will be taking shorter but
more frequent vacations this summer, Italy's hoteliers' group
Federalberghi said on Monday.
According to a survey by the association, 36 million Italians
will go on holiday between June and September.
An estimated 90% will remain in Italy while 10% will go abroad,
mainly travelling to a seaside destination not far from Italy.
However, one third of holidaymakers will take more than one
vacation, in addition to their summer vacation: 3.6 million will
take at least an additional break, 3.1 million will be
vacationing twice and 1.7 million will be taking three holiday
breaks, Federalberghi said.
This scenario will produce an estimated turnover of 40.6 billion
euros.
