A high-ranking police officer
appointed by the government last year as special commissioner to
clean up the crime and drug riddled town of Caivano near Naples
is set to be named chief of the national civil protection
department.on Monday.
Fabio Ciciliano will replace Fabrizio Curcio, who has led the
civil protection since 2021.
A native of Naples, Ciciliano, 52, is expected to remain
commissioner for Caivano until his mandate expires in
mid-September, when a solution will be found to continue the
town's redevelopment, well-informed sources said.
The same sources did not rule out that the project could be
directly overseen by the civil protection.
