A prosecutor in the central Italian
of L'Aquila on Monday requested that 22 officials for the Marche
regional government and other local authorities be sent to trial
in relation to flooding that hit the area of Senigallia in
September 2022, claiming 13 lives.
The suspects are under investigation over the alleged failure to
their duty and negligence over maintenance work that may have
prevented the impact of the flooding being deadly.
They face charges that include involvement in multiple culpable
homicide.
A preliminary hearing will take place on December 4.
