Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni
on Thursday expressed "strong concern" for the humanitarian
situation in the Gaza Strip during a meeting with Israeli
President Isaac Herzog in Rome, the premier's office said.
Meloni "stressed the Italian government's closeness to Israel
and the firm condemnation of the terrorism of Hamas", the
statement said.
She again pledged "Italy's commitment for a de-escalation at a
regional level, recalling the role played by the Italian
contingent at the border with Lebanon through UNIFIL and
reiterating strong concern for the humanitarian situation in
Gaza".
