Italy's national consumer price index
for the whole nation (NIC), gross of tobacco products, in July
rose by 0.5% on a monthly basis and 1.3% on an annual basis,
from +0,8% the previous month, according to preliminary
estimates released by ISTAT on Wednesday.
The increase on an annual basis of the all-item index was mainly
due to the prices of regulated energy products (from +3.5% to
+11.3%), non-regulated energy products (from -10.3% to -6.1%),
tobacco (from +3.4% to +4.1%) and services including personal
care (from +4.0% to +4.4%).
The prices of unprocessed foods (from +0.3% to -0.3%), various
services (from +1.8% to +1.5%), non-durable goods (from +1.3% to
+1.0%), processed food including alcohol (from +2.0% to +1.8%)
and durable goods (from -1.0% to -1.2%) instead slowed down,
ISTAT said.
In July 2024, core inflation (without energy and unprocessed
food) was stable at +1.9% and inflation excluding energy
declined (from +1.9% to +1.8%).
