A lava fountain and a
10-kilometre-high volcanic cloud were reported on Mount Etna
Sunday morning by the National Institute of Geophysics and
Volcanology in the fifth paroxysm that Europe's tallest active
volcano has experienced since July 4.
Sicily's Catania airport on Sunday afternoon lifted restrictions
in place due to the gush of volcanic lava and smoke emitted from
Etna, the company managing the airport SAC said.
However, SAC said delays and cancellations could take place
after it was forced to reduce arrivals over volcanic activity in
the morning.
