Pop star Madonna visited Pompeii late
on Friday, meeting with a group of teens and children who take
part in the project "I dream of flying", promoted by the
archaeological park with the aim of involving the local
community in the cultural life of the UNESCO World Heritage
Site.
The pop star, who is visiting the area to celebrate her 66th
birthday, has decided to support the project, which has an
annual cost of 250,000 euros, archaeological park sources have
said.
The project, which has reached its fourth edition, involves
youths in staging a classic theatre performance at Pompeii's
Great Theatre.
The entire 2024/25 season has been funded through its foundation
"Ray of Light".
Madonna visited the site with its director, Gabriel Zuchtriegel,
and her entourage of about 30 people
