Three people died in a fire late on
Thursday at a store selling Chinese products in Milan's Via
Ermenegildo Cantoni.
The victims were all Chinese citizens - two brothers aged 17 and
19 and a woman aged 24.
Firefighters worked all night to extinguish the flames and
secure the location.
Rescue services said the emporium did not have emergency exits
and had only one entrance overlooking the road so the victims
were unable to flee the premises.
The store was connected through a staircase to offices located
on the first floor, which were entirely destroyed by the flames.
The victims' bodies were all found on the ground floor, in
different parts of the emporium.
Carabinieri police are investigating the incident.
The cause of the fire is still unclear.
The hypothesis of an arson attack has not been ruled out as the
shop's owners had allegedly received threats prior to the
incident, investigative sources said.
