Only one person is believed to be
missing in Emilia-Romagna floods caused by torrential rain and
not two as originally reported, the prefect of Ravenna, Castrese
De Rosa, told a press conference on Friday.
De Rosa said Carabinieri police were working to verify the
information but so far "only one person" was missing after a
house collapsed at Bagnacavallo near Ravenna, "but we are
checking".
Bagnacavallo Mayor Matteo Giacomoni told ANSA on Thursday that
people were being rescued from rooftops after the river Lamone
had broken its banks at Traversara causing widespread flooding.
Overall, nearly 1,500 people were evacuated in Emilia-Romagna
amid flooding caused by torrential rain.
The extreme-weather alert in the region has been extended till
Friday night, local authorities said.
