Walker Meghnagi, president of
Milan's Jewish community, denounced on Sunday that "we are one
step from a hunt for the Jew and from acts of open violence
against religious and non-religious Jewish institutions and
their representatives", commenting banners carried Saturday by
demonstrators during a pro-Palestinian protest in the northern
city, including one calling Holocaust survivor and Life Senator
Liliana Segre a "Zionist agent".
Meghnagi said behaviour displayed at the pro-Palestinian protest
was of "exceptional gravity" and demonstrated that there is no
limit that can be considered as "unacceptable" anymore.
He denounced a "spiral of blind anti-Semitic hatred" and
"genocidal appeals that can be compared to the Nazi-Fascist ones
of the 1930s and 40s".
