Jannik Sinner said he was happy to have beaten Chinese wild card and tournament revelation Bu Yunchaokete in straight sets Tuesday and knew his China Open final opponent Carlos Alcaraz very well.
"I am very happy to have won in two sets, Bu is a very good player," said the Australian Open champ and world number one, who is awaiting a Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling on a World Doping Agency appeal that could see him banned for up to two years for drug use.
"At the beginning I tried to understand more. But he proved to be a very solid player between backhand and serve. China now has a good tennis player in the top 100".
As for world number three, former US Open champ and two-time and reigning Wimbledon champ Alcaraz, the 23-year-old said he knew his 21-year-old Spanish friend and rival very well.
"We know each other well, we will prepare and then we will see tomorrow, I hope it will be a good match for both of us, of course I hope to win it", the South Tyrolean told the press conference.
Sinner beat Bu 6-3 7-6 (7-3) in just over two hours.
