The leader of Italy's Jewish communities said Sunday that the freedom to demonstrate had been abused Saturday by a Rome march which was allegedly used by those who want to destroy Israel.
"Thanks to the police. What we saw yesterday was not free thought, it was an abuse of the freedom to demonstrate by those who seek to destabilize a state of law," said the president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities (UCEI) Noemi Di Segni.
"The Palestinians themselves are abused without understanding that their slogan and that of the pro-Pal is being channeled to reach the destruction of Israel and the incitement to violence with the aberrant accusations and reversal of every truth".
Some 34 police and four marchers were hut in clashes at the event after alleged infiltrators threw stones, paper bombs and a road sign at the officer who responded with baton charges, tear gas and water cannon.
