The leaders of two of Italy's biggest
trade union federations, CGIL and UIL, respectively Maurizio
Landini and Pierpaolo Bombardieri, announced an eight-hour
general strike with local demonstrations on Friday, November 29
at a press conference on Wednesday.
The two unions have called the strike to ask the government to
change the 2025 budget law which they consider "inadequate to
solve the country's problems", the leaders said.
They demand salary and pension hikes and more funding for
healthcare, education, public services and industrial policies.
