Judicial authorities have ordered the
arrest of the 19-year-old cousin of Arcangelo Correra, 18, who
died early on Saturday after being shot in the head in downtown
Naples in the third violent death of a teen reported in the
southern port city over the last two weeks, investigative
sources said Sunday.
The arrest of Renato Caiafa, 19, has been ordered on charges of
illegal possession of a weapon and stolen goods.
Caiafa will also be probed on manslaughter charges in connection
with his cousin's death after he told investigators that he had
accidentally shot the victim while showing off the murder weapon
to a group of friends, including Correra.
The 19-year-old is the brother of Luigi Caiafa, who was shot
dead at 17 by a police officer during an armed robbery in
downtown Naples in 2020.
Overall, three teens have been murdered in the area of Naples in
just over two weeks.
Before Correra, Emanuele Tufano, 15, was killed in downtown
Naples in the night between October 23 and 24 during a shootout
between teens.
On November 2, 19-year-old Santo Romano was allegedly shot dead
by a 17-year-old who confessed to investigators that he had
murdered Romano because he had "dirtied" his designer shoes.
