Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti
said Tuesday the CGIL and UIL unions' confirmation Monday of a
November 29 general strike against the 2025 budget bill was
"incredible", coming as it did after seven hours of talks with
the government on a package that he said cuts taxes.
"Yesterday at this time I was finishing the 7-hour meeting with
the unions. Some have incredibly confirmed the strike," he said
at a rally in support of Umbria's rightwing League governor
Donatella Tesei in view of this weekend's regional elections,
together with the other ministers of the League.
"This shows how senseless this thing is. What we cannot accept
is that we have committed to lowering taxes and we are doing it
and this thing is terribly annoying.
"We are doing things with a bit of intelligence, not cutting
indiscriminately".
