A controversial amendment to
increase the salary of unelected ministers to equal the pay of
members of the cabinet who are also lawmakers has been scrapped
from the draft budget.
The revised amendment currently being discussed in the Lower
House's budget commission only provides for ministers and
undersecretaries and those not residing in Rome to be reimbursed
of travel costs, setting up a fund worth an annual 500,000 euros
starting in 2025.
The draft budget is expected to reach the Lower House on
Wednesday.
